Coaching License Giveaway

Updated: Aug 13, 2018

If you’re a local soccer coach or an aspiring coach, read this:

If you’re like me when I started out coaching, then you genuinely want to coach your kids in soccer but you may feel you have limited knowledge to do it. Like many athletes in our culture and context, I grew up playing baseball and basketball, two sports that I still love to this day. I didn’t start really playing soccer until I was sixteen. So, my knowledge of the game came much later — and I’ve grown tremendously because of two things:

1) My on-the-Field Coaching experience and

2) Going through US Soccer’s Coaching Education Pathway.

Now, to be clear, a coaching license does not make somebody a good coach, but it definitely helps a motivated parent or inexperienced coach up their knowledge of the game. This will help the motivated coach/parent both on the field and in their own back yard or local park with their own kids.

A coaching license does not make somebody a good coach, but it definitely helps the motivated parent or inexperienced coach up their knowledge of the game.

At Kings Mountain Soccer Club, we want more knowledgeable coaches at all levels of play. So, we want to pay for you to get your US Soccer Coaching License. We want to do this not to benefit Kings Mountain Soccer Club alone, but to benefit the sport itself in the greater Kings Mountain Area. All organizations (including recreation leagues, the high school and middle school teams, and those that play local pickup games) will benefit in the long run as a result of more knowledgeable coaches in our area.

So, we don’t care where it is or with what org you're coaching. If you’re a local coach in the Kings Mountain Area, we want to pay for your initial coaching license with US Soccer. This Grassroots License is worth $25 and you can do it all online in different sittings or you can do it in about 2-3 hours in one sitting.

You're probably asking: "What’s the catch?" The only catch is that you have to be committed to Coach this Fall at one of the local recreation leagues in and around Kings Mountain. We have only 12 spots available. So, if you have high energy, are good with kids, want to advance your knowledge the game, and plan to coach this Fall, I want you to fill out this form and we will send you a link where you can get started. When you’re finished, you will have an official US Soccer Grassroots Coaching License. Again, this is only for the first twelve coaches that sign up via the form attached.

Being a great soccer coach is about how the players relate to you and your overall commitment to them.

Please remember that a coaching license does not make you a good coach, it simply means you’ve been further equipped to be a great coach. Being a great soccer coach is about how the players relate to you and your overall commitment to them. The knowledge will come and this coaching license is a great way to get the ball down the field as you seek to improve and develop as a youth soccer coach. So, get licensed!
